ELLEN

Hey! I'm Ellen. I'm double majoring in English and Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Essentially, I drown myself in words and enjoy every second of it. If you can't find me curled up in the nooks and crannies of a book then I'm most likely practicing yoga, devouring honey BBQ chicken wings with my friends while marathoning TV shows, or daydreaming of mountains.

Where do you hail from?
A quaint town outside of Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

If you could be one literary character, who would you be and why?
Sophie from Diana Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle. Sophie goes from being an introverted young woman who lives a quiet life to coming into her own through a series of odd and magical events. She's loud and proud, quirky, and screws things up a lot even though she has good intentions at heart. Plus she gets the guy.

Favorite book genres:
Fiction. Usually mainstream, but I'm a sucker for anything with dystopias, folk tales, fantasy, and a healthy dose of romance.

Ideal reading location:
Either by a big tree or a big window. Blanket forts are also acceptable. Bonus points if there's hot chocolate and a cat.

Favorite film adaptation of a book:
Clueless. Adorable 90s Paul Rudd, questionable 90s fashionistas, and ridiculous 90s slang all set to the charmingly hilarious plot of Emma. What more could I ask for?

Pet peeves:
When people chew with their mouths open/sound like a cow while eating. And when couples walk around with a hand in each other's back pocket.

A place that is not your home that feels like home:
Friends' houses/cabins by the lake or ocean in the summertime.

Place you long to go to:
The fjords in Norway and the rest of the US.

Personal tag line:
This one is brought to you by Zoe: "Ellen--the edgy lit. major!"

Quote you live by:
I'm going to cheat and write two:

"Work hard, stay humble" // "Be silly, be honest, be kind"
